Workplace Mental Health Solutions

Education

All of our educational solutions can be tailored to your audience and include:
Introduction to The Standard (1-2 hours)
An informational session for key leaders in your organization to learn about the history and development of the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety. This session includes an overview of the standard and a review of the 13 psychosocial factors that influence the workplace and affect employee wellbeing. At the end, you’ll have tools and information you need to consider implementing The Standard in your workplace.
Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace (1-2 hours)
An interactive educational opportunity for staff at all levels in your organization to learn about the importance of mental health at work and strategies for maintaining work/life balance. This session includes tips for identifying employees who may be struggling, how to start a conversation about mental health at work, and practical exercises you can use every day to look after your mental health.
Mental Health and Mental Illness 101 (1-2 hours)
This informational session will help participants develop and understanding of the difference between mental health and mental illness. Suitable for all levels of staff, this session includes an overview of common mental disorders, discussion of stigma and common myths about mental illness, and an introduction to the concept of mental health.

Training

Advisor Training
CMHA’s certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisor Training program will help individuals who are working to improve psychological health and safety in the workplace or implement The Standard. This 2-day course provides an opportunity for participants to learn how to assess organizational readiness for change, implement evidence-based methods to analyze the impact of mental health in a workplace, and make targeted recommendations to implement The Standard and improve the psychological health and safety of workers.

Consulting Services

Our consulting services are carried out by a team of CMHA Certified Psychological Health and Safety Advisors from CMHA branches across the province.
Readiness Assessment
A series of initial consultations with a certified Advisor from CMHA to assess the readiness of your organization to implement The Standard. This could include meeting with key leadership, reviewing high level organizational metrics, and examining policies and procedures that impact mental health in the workplace.
Organizational Assessment
Comprehensive assessment of your workplace, including input from staff at all levels to identify psychosocial factors impacting the psychological health and safety of employees. This includes a Readiness Assessment as well as in-depth discussion with targeted groups such as managers, front-line staff, or unions. The goals of this assessment include identifying problem areas within your organization, highlighting existing strengths within your workplace, and developing a tailored implementation plan.
Implementation Support
Ongoing support to implement recommendations and enact meaningful change in your workplace for as long as you need it. Our Advisors can work with you on everything from employee engagement to policy revisions and strategic planning.
